No more T.E.A.R.S is a support group especially for girls ages 13 and up who are experiencing dating violence in their relatonships. Along with peer support, the group also includes educational presentations and speakers and activities such as crafts, jewelry making, and more.
What is Dating Violence?
Being yelled at, called names, verbally harrassed
Constantly accused of flirting or having sex with others
Repeatedly interrogated
Publicly humiliated
Labeled "stupid" or "crazy"
Are You a Victim of Dating Violence?
Are you frightened of your boyfriend or girlfriend's temper?
Are you afraid to disagree with him/her?
Have you been frightened by his or her violence towards others?
Have you been hit , kicked, shoved, or had things thrown at you?
Do you not see friends or family because of his/her jealousy?
Have you been forced to have sex?
Have you been afraid to say no to sex?
You've been wrongly & repeatedly accused of flirting of haveing sex with others?
Are you unable to go out, get sa job or to school without his/her permisson?
If any of these have happened to you
you have the right to:
Be treated with respect
Be heard
Say "NO"
Come and go as you please
Have a support system
Have friends and be social
Have privacy and space of your own
Maintain a seperate identity
What to do if You are Being Abused
Take it seriously
Tell your abuser the violence must stop
Say it clearly that you don't want to have sex
Plan for your safety
Tell your parents, call the police, or other authorities
Find a counselor or a support group
Talk to friends
Do things for yourself that make you feel stronger
Take a self-defense class
